DAVION, Weaver of Fate

Rather than move into his father's rather brutal practice as a caravan guard, Davion's discovered early on that he'd inherited his talents from his mother.  She was the finest weaver in the village.  But at a very young age Davion surpassed her in skill, and subsequently his renown reached that of the entire countryside.  By his late teens, his creations were sought by knights, nobles, and anyone who considered themselves an art fancier.Davion, Weaver of Fate

It was his commission for one such noble that brought him to prominence of another sort.  Asked to commemorate the wedding of a Lord to his lady, Davion looked and listened and studied until he understood all of the ramifications of this marriage.  It seemed to Davion that this marriage was as much, if not more so, about convenience.  Word had made rounds (if one knew where to ask) that the Lady' father had bought up a number of the Lord's debts.  Davion made the leap of judgment that the point of this was to forgive the debt as part of the dowry, and so Davion incorporated this into his tapestry.  What's more, the neighboring unclaimed lands that bordered on the east were full of a number of untapped resources that the new father-in-law would likely prize.

Davion's tapestry depicted not only the marriage, but the forgiving of the debt by the father-in-law (an event which had not yet happened), and the annexing of this brutal wilderness on the eastern border.  When all of these things came to fruition, it was spoken of that Davion was a prophet, weaving his visions into the silks.

Suddenly there wasn't a prince or general considering a major move who didn't want one of Davion's tapestries.  Even if it was just as likely that one or both of his prophecies had actually served as suggestions... ideas planted in the minds of those about whom they were created.

He has parlayed this opportunity to make himself into a pseudo-diplomat.  Though he has no real title, his access to courts and processions has offered him many chances to learn, and on occasion, to influence world events.

His adventuring life began out of necessity.  Every group of fighters, mages and thieves needs a mouthpiece.  And every would-be diplomat needs protection.  And money.  Definitely money.  His own hand-to-hand fighting abilities were learned out of a need to go many places unarmed.
