ATTENDEES:

Wyld Barbarian Pygmies, A Snake in a Tunnel, a Terrestrial "Solar
Sympathizer", and an Army.... Mark
We are near halfway to our destination in the outback where we seek
information regarding the weapons with the symbol of the Golden Lion. We've
reached the jungle and (presumably) where Jim's character would set up a
castle. It's a proper, livable spot. We rest a few days and then head into
the jungle, creating a path as we go.
However we get word that scouts are starting to disappear. To quell the
fears of the soldiers, the Exalted themselves set out to investigate. (In
retrospect it probably is too menial a task for them, but it worked out for
the best because our mortals would have had a lot of trouble with these
guys.) Honshu uses an investigatory charm to discover the direction they
were taken. Soon we are the target of blow-darts, which pretty much ring off
of our armor. Titus steps into a pit and falls 30ft, Honshu air-walks down
to get him out. Meanwhile, up top, Gareth is playing hide-n-seek with the
hideous green pygmies that look essentially like malformed green babies with
sharp teeth.
Why do so many of our enemies in games have baby features? What are you
trying to tell us, Mark? Gareth manages to carve/burn one up while the
others flee.
Further along our travels we find bodies like this all cut open and exposed
in a grisly manner, their innards left exposed on their chests while they
die very slowly. First bodies we find are our scouts. Then we find animals.
Looks like they're sending a message to the wildlife too!
Then comes the ambush! Pygmy armies decide to attack our troops. Next couple
hours involve a mass combat between the 4 talons of Titus's troops and the
many units of pygmies. Some of the Talons fare better than others (The one
Mastovo was running took lots of damage before they even had a chance to
act) while others did well right off the bat (Gareth's badly damaged an
opposing unit and Titus's moved up and combined with the damaged unit of
Mastovo, making a tougher force). The pygmies are eventually put down, but
not without claiming a few soldiers.
During our continued travels, Jeff's mortal falls into the a hole and is
attacked by a snake. Someone (Izzimon?) remembers there's a cave at the
bottom of the hill to which we can probably gain entrance so we run down and
enter and kill the snake rather quickly.
The first village we come across is full of people who take cover when we
hit town. Unable to elicit a response from the most prominent house in the
village, we kick in the door and question the occupants. It seems the Hetman
lives here and he has seen the symbol of the Golden Lion. In fact, he
produces a knife with a similar symbol. In questioning he tells us that
there is the village of (Uh-ny-uh) from which they purchase such weapons.
Izzimon decides to purchase the weapons here in this town so that we don't
raze the place.
No villagers were harmed in the departing of this town.
We reach ah-nuy-yuh, and find that it is militarily fortified with a wooden
palisade and the populace appear to be armed. We take a scale of soldiers
and walk down to the gate. Honshu calls for someone to come forth and give
information. The guy who comes out is less than pleasant, snide about a
magistrate of the realm being all the way out here he believes the law does
not hold sway. After a short argument against Honshu, Gareth, and Izzimon,
the man says that while we're talking Titus' troops are dying. A glance at
the distant hillside does reveal that a fight is going on.
We join combat here. First ones off are Gareth and their leader.
Unfortunately, he's got an ability that allows him to feint, tricking Gareth
into striking Honshu twice, taking him out of the combat in round 0 and
sending him below incapacitated. The others are not without their tricks
too, being equivalent of our "heroes", only more experienced and better
equipped. Izzimon swoops in and drags Honshu out of the battle, else he die
in about half a minute.
There are a few big factors in this one: First, auras. The players whose
animas flare become a real danger to Titus' mortal troops. Second, Gareth is
setting people on fire on our side because of their leader's ability to
redirect his swings. It's when their leader is incredibly low on essence due
to the heavy use of his charms and Izzimon rejoins the battle that things
start to swing our way. But by then, their leader has redirected Titus'
swing so that it hits Mastovo, who has been taking great care to stay away
from the guy and is 3 yards away. The blow almost kills Mastovo outright;
He's got 5 "ticks" to live, which, since he's a mortal, nearly go by without
any assistance. At the last second, a life-saving attempt is made, which
would have to yield a "legendary" result, but just misses that. Mastovo is
dead.
Their leader goes down when Izzimon blows his entire bundle on a massive
series of attacks. The foe runs out of essence to defend himself and now,
completely spent and very damaged is easy prey.
Titus' soldiers on the hillside win, with casualties.
We clear the town of the Golden Lion's "perfect" items and, rather than lug
them around further, destroy them here. Use of the items, because they were
a BIG bonus to our enemies in combat, is discussed, but not only don't the
Immaculate and the Magistrate like the idea, but the troops would not touch
them because they've been told so much that these are the cursed creations
of an Anathema.
Interrogation of captured troops tells us that these items have come to Ah-ny-uh
from the location where leaders gather. Izzimon's scouting of that area
yields that there are loosely scattered encampments full of, not soldiers,
but shaman! It's a thaumatergist gathering. Further discussion later yields
that they are gathered together to summon something... Something big and
nasty. And it will likely come within 8 days.
