A Healer from Grazelands and her Farmer slave (Alan)
A Bison Rider from Sartar and a second character I can't recall (Paul)
A Hunter from Sartar (Jim)
A Llama Rider from Prax and her reformed Bandit associate (Darren)
We are all together because the GM Willed it our respective villages and clans have seers who sent us to meet because our destinies are interconnected. Upon arrival we find that the biggest thing that needs fixed is that the herd of cattle have been stolen and taken into the hills. We are charged with recovering the herd, and if possible the leader of rustlers, Danicos. (JEEZ, I remembered HIS name but not my own characters...)
First thing we come across on the road is a misshapen lump of chaos flesh that we try to stab/skewer/arrow and instantly people are losing arrows and weapons because it is dissolving whatever hits it. So a few of us (Jim and Paul) start throwing disrupt spells at it until it disrupts into a pile of goo that isn't attacking.
We find a body on the road. This person got outright disrespected, as the custom is to bury people, even enemies is possible. This one was left in the open.
It is noticed that we are being watched. Whoever it is gets confronted as he's doing the "If it stay low here and cower no one will see me in the open" maneuver. He's an old man who has seen some weird shit and who happens to talk to invisible people. One thing he warns us of is the "stone lady" and to stay away from her. He says the woman's body on the road was there because her leader killed her for obviously rebelling against his orders. Her spirit is not at rest.
We want to continue on since it's early, but the old man wants us to stay at his hut until the newly approaching storm passes.
When we finally go, we encounter a bull on the road
headed our direction hotly pursued by a Lounge of enormous Lizards. (Yes,
that's the group name. I looked it up.) We head in to intercept
them. Arrows, swords, and lances take them out one-by-one. We
collect the bull.
We eventually reach the ruins with a tower at its
center that is the location to which the hoof prints reach. Along the
walls are stacked animal skulls, which we carefully avoid. When we reach
the tower we find that inside is the usual tower stuff, and more skulls, and a
statue. Paul's character goes in to investigate and triggers some things
to come to life (?)...
There are a number of skulls that are animated by vegetation which grows out of it. (We eventually discover that the key is to destroy the skull because the vines just grow back.) Also, the ginormous stone statue comes to fine and demands sacrifices because it hungers. It stomps the ground, sometimes sending people flying. Also here is Danicos who has become its controlled slave. We set about going after everything except the stone lady because she's the only one who hasn't attacked us outright although she is animated.
Eventually we whittle their numbers down and when Danicos falls the stone lady tries to recruit a new member in the form of Paul's bison rider, who then proceeds to try to do its bidding by bringing it skulls from outside. A combination of manual grabbing and pole-lassoing gets him subdued and we drag him away along with the body of Danicos for bounty value. The stone lady can't follow us out of her tower.
We collect the herd nearby, some of us search the ruins successfully and come back with a couple of things. We return the herd and collect a reward. We do our experience checks.
